BOATship is a design and PR studio based in Jimbocho, Tokyo. We call ourselves a "Business Art Team": a small crew that works where design, storytelling, and business strategy overlap. Since 2022 we have been building company media, shaping PR strategy, and developing brands — in Japan, and across cultures from Asia to Europe.

Brand development for the Japanese market

Entering Japan is less about translation and more about context. We adapt your brand's identity, tone, and visual language for Japanese audiences — from naming and messaging to the cultural nuances that decide whether a brand feels trustworthy here.

Company media production

Owned media is the most reliable way to build presence in Japan's crowded attention market. We design, write, and run company media end to end — websites, editorial content, and the measurement loop (GA4-based read-rate tracking) that keeps it improving.

PR strategy

We plan communications with the PESO model (Paid, Earned, Shared, Owned) — designing not just a launch moment but a repeatable rhythm of touchpoints with Japanese media, communities, and customers.

A studio that trades in more than money

One thing makes us unusual: our equal exchange compensation model. Alongside standard fees, we accept payment in other forms of value — produce from a farm we built a website for, or workspace from a co-working brand we helped position. It keeps us close to the people we work with, and honest about what our work is worth. (You can pay us in yen, too.)
